1.THE BIBLE
Every religin has his own book an in christianity this book is the bible is divided in two parts The Old Testament that talks about the storyof God´s people,the Jews,and The New Testament that talks about the story of Jesus and the first christians.

The bible is organised by little books,because some of his book only have some pages.

2.The holy land
Palestine,a small country where Jesus live all his life is considered the holy land.Palestine is about ¼ of Ireland in size,it has snow capped mountains
and desert areas in the south.It is divided in three provinces,Galilee,Samaria
and Judaea.It has two lakes the Galilee were Jesus met his first disciples
and the Dead Sea.The main river is the Jordan,were Jesus was baptised.
It biggest city is Jerusalem were Jesus was crucified.Some of it´s towns
are Nazareth were Jesus grew up,Bethlehem were Jesus was born,Jericho
were Jesus healed the people and Capernaum were Jesus taugh to people.
3.Homes in Palestine
In Palestine ordinary hoses were very simple.Each house was small,it had one window and one door.Inside it only had one room.The walls were painted white to reflect the
sun so it is colder and they were made of mud.Outside it had steps on the side led up onto the roof used as an extra space were sometimes have meals and said their prayers
The inside was divided in two parts,one for the animals to sleep at nigth an one for
the family.
4.Life in palestine
In Palestine life is not so diferent than in another desarollated country,in Palestine
Every morning the children go to the sinagogue to learn Jewish scripture with the Rabbi.The father goes to work an the mother stays at home.When children arrive
from school,boys go to work with his father for the rest of the day and girls help his mother in the house and then go to sell with the mother to the market.

4.Ancient Judaism
Jews history covers almost 2,000 years from the time of Abraham to the time of Jesus.
Here we have the main events during this time:

-God calls Abraham to lead his people from the city of Ur to the land of Canaan.
-A famine breacks ot in Canaan an Abraham`s grandson Jacob moves the family to Egypt .At first they were welcomed as guests,but are later trated as slaves.
-Hundreds of years later,God chooses Moses to lead the Jews out of slavery in Egypt.
-They´re led into the land of Canaan.
-Judges and prophets are send to lead them in ways of god.Jews established a kingdom and David,a warrior who tried hard to keep his people faithful to the laws of god became the king of all Israel.His son Salomon builds a great temple in Jerusalen where everyone can go to workship god.
-After Salomon death the kingdom is divided.
-A crisis occurs and the temple is destroyed,people are sended to Babylon.
-Jews realise the mistake they´ve done an started to to follow gods law.
-When they return to Jerusalen thy rebuild the temple and tried to make a fresh star.
-There´s still no peace in the land.The country is invaded by one foreing power after another.
-The Jews long for a leader,a Messiah who will lead them for freedom.

5.Temple and Sinagogue
In Jesus time the Jews have two kinds of religious buildings,the temple in
Jerusalen and the sinagogues inevery town and village.
Temple:considered the most sacred building,heart of Jewish life,they tried to visited at least once a year.It´s most important part was the Holy of the Holies,no one except the priest could entered.
Sinagogue:founded in every town,village,meeting place for Jewish community,small two story building for more than 100persons.

6.The roman empire
In the year 63bc.the romans conquered Palestine,they introduct their laws and introduced the taxes.Jewish people were very annoyed becauso they thought that
thas was his territory,given to them by God.
4.1The taxes and taxes collectors
In Jesus time,ordinary people earned just enought to eat.But when romans invaded them this changed,the also have to pay taxes.The taxes were payed to upkeep the roman army.For collecting it they contract some tax collectors,that were mainly Jewish,Jewish people hate them because they work for the romans.But some of
them were cheats and keep part of the money,as a result many of them became very wealthy.

7.The messiah
In the Old Testament was a holy prohet who had a special job,to be a spokerperson
for God.A prophet is someone who
on behalf God.In the Old Testament prophets obeyed God laws and said Jewish people what will happen if they desobeyed them.
Prophets told Jewish people that God promise them that he would send a Messiah
that means``anointed one’’.Jewish people expect the Messiah to be strong and powerful like king David.They spect him to be a king.
And today christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah but Jewish believe that the Messiah hasn’t come yet.

Introduction

I will talk about miracles, parables for example the good Samaritan and the miracle where Jesus cured a man who was blind . I will also talk about a foundation who helps cure leprosy, what discipleship is, conflicts with authority

Main Part

-Parable

A parable of the good Samaritan.

One day a Jewish man is walking across the road from Jerusalem to Jericho and a local gang see him walking. When they see him they beat him up and take all his money. The gang leave the man on the side of the road. The man who had been attacked couldn´t even move. Some local people are in hurry to go to the temple, they see him but leave him there. After that a Samaritan comes by and sees him he carefully puts him on top of his donkey even though the Jewish looked down at the Samaritans. The Samaritan left the man in an inn and left him there he prayed the innkeeper some money and said “ Give this man all he needs if it costs more money I’ll come by in a few days and pay the rest”.

-Miracle

the first miracle is of a blind man named Bartimaeus

One day Jesus was around Jericho and there was a big crowd everyone was shouting “ Jesus is here, Jesus is here” Bartimaeus heard this and ran to find him when he had found him Bartimaeus said please help me, I’m blind since I was born Jesus placed his hand over his eyes and healed him

-Facts

There is a leprosy Mission team who helps people who suffer leprosy (also known as Hansen’s disease)

It is in South Africa and it started seven years ago. It has helped people like Zwelani a fourteen years old girl who suffered this disease. It can be cured by taking modern drugs and can be helped even more by going to special schools.

One day he gathered his disciples and his other friends around him. They sat down together on the side of a hill. Jesus began to teach them the Beatitudes. This a list of good ways of behaving toward God and other people.

Disciples are followers of Jesus. A disciple follows the teaching of Jesus to love God and love one’s neighbour as oneself. The disciples always try to give a good example. They show others how God’s love is at work in the world. That is what discipleship is all about.

It may not be easy living up to Jesus’ way of doing things. However Jesus promised his followers that it would make them happy.

THE MESSIAH:


The prophets told the people that god promised to send a great leader. The Jews had
A special name for a leader sent by god a Messiah .The word messiah means anointed
one .Long ago,all great leaders were anointed ,blessed ,with oil .To be anointed with oil
was a sign that a person was sent by god to do good work .when king David was a young
boy he was anointed with oil .The Jews thought me Messiah to be a king . They expected the messiah to be a great warrior who would lead them to freedom .In a free
country they would be a proud the people to get ready for the coming of the today.





THE ORAL STAGE:




After pentecost the apostles tells to the persons that Jesus is alive so they travel all over Palestine spreading the good News .The Apostles go trough all the world spreading
The message of god.


EVANGELÍST:

The gospels were written by Mark ,Matthew´Luke and John .They are called the four evangelist .An evangelist was a person of great faith who firmly believed that Jesus is god.
The four evangelists were unable to keep the tell the good news to themselves. They felt they had to tell everyone what they believed, so they each announced the good news loud and clear for everyone.








OPINION:
i think that in 25 these pages we talk in general on the new testament .So i believe that to be good people must behave follow the ten commandments e transmitting the message of Jesus (god)then all that is created to all the world, all the people ever in all our life we have done the well, help people and ourselves
that's why everybody has to follow the example of prophets and express the message of God and help those who do not follow it, and do evil.

1)RELIGION
In this work we will talk about diferent religions, we are going to talk, primarily, about christianity and a little bit less about judaism. But, we are going also to talk about other religions. In this work we are going to explain, demostrate and show the diferent things that we are going to say now: First we are going to start with the bible. The divisions in the bible, it’s books, verses or chapters. After, about the new testament, evangelists and documents about faith and history. Later, we will explain the live of the diferent messiahs, how they become that and in wihch religions are adorated. Finally, we are going to explain about jews religion, “the Judaism”. The principal things are going to be are: The sinagoges, the live in the old Palestine, ancient Judaism and things like “The holy Land”.

1)The Bible:
-Divisions in the Bible.
The bible is the book with much importance in christian religion. The Bible comprises 24 books for Jews, 66 for Protestants, 73 for Catholics, and 78 for most Orthodox Christians. It has 66 books for catholic cristians, the books which we are going to explain are does because the biggest group of cristians are the catholic ones. And all the groups have the same principal parts and all are based, more or less, in the same conditions, sow the theme is, principally the same (It’s true that the different cristian groups have sections which have a lot of non similitaries between them, but they are primarily based in the same, as I had said) . It also has 1189 chapters and 31173 verses reparted in three parts. The new tetament, the old testament and the apocalipsis (or revelations). The books of the Bible were written by approximately 40 different men over a period of approximately 1500 years.
The new testament is the section of the bible that talks from a little bit before Jesus born until a little bit later Jesus dies. It has 7956 verses in 295 chapters writen by 6 diferent persons. It includes the books of:

Luke 1, Luke 2, Luke 3, Luke 4, Mark 1, Mark 2, Mark 3, Mark 4, Mark 5, Mark 6, Mark 7, Mark 8, Mark 9, Mark 10, Mark11, Mark 12, Mark 13, Mark 14, Mark 16, Matthew 5, Matthew 6, Philippians 21, Corinthians 11, Corinthians 13, Corinthians 15, John 1, John 2, John 3, John 4, John 5, John 15, John 20 and John 21.


1) The old testament is the section of the bible that talks about the religion of the same god that the new testament talks (in this times the people didn’t know nothing about christianity, but because the bible was written after Jesus dies, they talked about the religion of christianity depending of the person who wroted and how he, or she interpretates it.) before Jesus was born, but also about God’s people, that were the jews. The Old Testament is considered a holy book for both Jews and Christians. The old testament has 39 books. This books can be divided into four groups: First group, The Books of Moses, the Books of the Law (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy). Second group, The Historical Books, the History of God's People Israel (Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther). Third group, The Poetical Books (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon). And fourth group, The Prophets, which is divided in other two sections, “The Major Prophets”, the Longer Books (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel), and The Minor Prophets, the Shorter Books
(Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi).


2)The Messiah

The word Messiah means "anointed one". In the past, the best leaders were anointed, or blessed with oil. To be anointed with oil was a sign that a person was a sign thet a person was sent by God to do good work.
The Jews thought the Messiah would be a king, strong and powerfull, a great warrior who would lead them to freedom. The prophets urged the people to get ready for the coming of the Messiah.
For hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus, the Jews espected a Messiah to come to their aid. This is what the prophets said about the Messiah in the Old Testament.
In these days:
-Christians beleive that Jesus is the Messiah.
-Jews beleive that the Messiah has yet to come.


2)The temple

A Temple is a sacred building. The Temple in the city of Jerusalem was the most sacred building for the Jewish people. It was a very beautiful bulding. It was built of cream coloured stone and covered in gold.
The Temple was the heart of Jewish life. The Jews beleived it was the dwelling place of God.
They tried to visit the The Temple at least once a year, during a Jewish festival. They came with their families to pray and to offer sacrifice to God.
The Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70CE. Part of one wall is all that remins today.


2)The Synagogues

In Jesus´time there was a synagogue in every town and village in Palestine. The synagogue was a meeting place for the Jewish comunity. Every week the Jews attended a service in the synagogue on the Sabbath. They went to pray and to listen the sciptures.
The synagogue was a plain two-story building. It was small, holding between fifty and one hundred people at a time. It had a porch in front. Inside there were two
doors. Women entered through one door and went upstairs to a gallery. Men and older boys went in anothe door and remainded downstairs in the main part of the building.


3)Document of faith

A document of faith is a gospel.

A gospel is not an history book or a bibliography, but people use to comparate or confuse them.
On an history book are narrated the facts of a chronological form with person names and places.
In the gospels didn't happen the same, furthermore the facts in Jesus' life, are grouped by topic: Jesus' parables, miracles, etc.

A gospel isn't a Jesus biography because it only relate the three last years of his life, tall very little about Jesus' childhood and about his builder life in the village of Nazareth.

Mark, Matthew, Luke and John are the gospel writters. They believed that Jesus is God, so they wrotte those books to spread their belief.


3)Documents of History

Most of what we know about Jesus, comes from the New Testament, but other information comes from historians, like Josephus and Tacitus. These documents were written at the time of the Roman Empire.

Josephus was a Jew. 60 years after the death of Jesus, the Romans asked him to explain the religiom of Judaism. He told about a teacher called Jesus. He was a wise man, he did wonderful works and he died on a cross because Pontius Pilate sentenced him. He related that his disciples said that he appeared three days after his crucifixion.

Tacitus was a Roman. 80 years after the death of Jesus, he was asked to writte about important people and events in the Roman Empire. He related about the Christians, who were a group of people that got their name from Jesus Christ. His founder was Jesus, who was sentenced by Pontius Pilate and he was executed.

These historians were non-Christian writers, they didn't believe that Jesus is a God, simply they narrate a historical event. They said Jesus lived in Palestine and show that Jesus was a real person.

3)Concluding:

We have two types of books about Jesus, gospels in the New Testament that show Jesus as God and the historical documents that show Jesus as a real person.


4)THE HOLY LAND:
The Origin of the Holy Land concept is found in the renaming of the Land of Cannan as the Land of Israel (e.g. Genesis 15:18-21). The promised land. Palestine is a small country beside the Mediterranean Sea.It is surrounded by three continents:Europe,Africa and Asia, it is a land of many contrast.There are snow mountains in the north, and a desert area in the south.There are low hills and fertile valleys.The weather in Palestine was hot during the day and cold at night. .Today, Palestine is called Israel.
Jesus lived all his life in Palestine, Jesus was born in Bethlehem and he grew up in Nazareth, he was baptised in the river Jordan and met his first disciples at the Sea of Galilee. Jesus taught people in Capernaum an his healed people in Jericho. He went all over the country with his disciples teaching people about the love of God. When Jesus teached he walked from place to place along narrow dusty roads. Jesus was put to death outside the city of Jerusalem.

4)LIFE IN THE OLD PALESTINE:
Jesus lived with Mary and Joseph in a village house in Nazareth. In Palestine the house of ordinary people were simple in design.The house was small.It had one window and one door.Inside there was only one room, was divided in two parts.The family lived on a raised platform at one end.The lower part of the room was used as a stable for animals.The outside walls were painted white to reflect the heat of the sun.The roof of the house was flat, it was used as extra space for the family.They ate their meals, sat and talked and said their prayers up there.The day was a place where washing.Every Jewish house had an oil lamp and was always lit.All family took food from a large dish.They dipped of fingers of their right hand.No cutlery was used.During the meal the father of the family told stories from Jewish scripture.
In Palestine the members of an ordinary family did a variety of jobs.The women
Work ed in the home and went to the market to do the shopping.The boys go off to school after they work with their father.The girls stay at home tidy the house.The market square was in the centre of the village.The farmers sold fruit and grain ,the shepherds sold wol and meat and the fishermen sold fish.The rabbi read the scripture in the synagogue. There were Roman soldiers around too. They kept law and order in the village.A soldier guarded beside the tax collector´s office(very important office).

4)ANCIENT JUDAISM:
The history of the Jews covers a period of almost 2.000 years from the time of Abraham to the time of Jesus.God called Abraham to lead his people from the city of Ur to the land of Canaan..A famine broke out in Canaan and Abraham´s grandson Jacob moves their family to Egypt and were treated as slaves.Then God choosed Moses to lead the Jews out of slavery in Egypt whwn they reahed Mount Sinai God gave Moses the laws and the ten commandments.
The Jews establish ed and Kingdom and David was their King.Whwn his son Solomon death the Kingdom was divided, Jerusalem was atatacked and the people were slaves in Babylon.In the exile they began to pray on the Sabbath.When the Jews were free they returned to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple of Solomon
There was still no peace in the land.The country was invaded and the Romans captured Jerusalem in 63 BCE. The Jews wanted to be free and they wanted a leader,a Messiah, to set them free.


STORIES FROM THE NEW TESTAMENT:

2) I CAN SEE!

- Give me alms! Give something of money to a poor blind beggar! –shouted Bartimeo.
He had the eyes sick and could not see. For him, everything was dark.Every day, he sat down close to the dusty and dirty way. He could not work and because of this he was asking for money.
One day, Jesus came to the city where Bartimeo was living. Bartimeo knew that Jesus was treating the people. Probably Jesus might treat him!He heard some voices. Strong and filled with enthusiasm voices. Bartimeo could hear the people who were near him.
- Help me, Jesus! Help me! – He shouted with all his forces. Jesus heard him and stopped.
-Say him to come here- Jesus asked.- Jesus wants to see you- they said to the blind person Bartimeo, immediately, he left the cap that was keeping him warm. He gave a jump and went running towards Jesus. He could not see, but the people helped him to find the way - what do you want me to do?- asked Jesus.- I want to see. Please, I want to see like before.You have had beleived in me- answered Jesus-. Because of it, you will see.Bartimeo opened the eyes. Now it was not dark. There was light!- I can see! - He shouted of happiness-. I want to go with you, Jesus.
Jesus said:- I am the light of the world, is never dark where I am, Come with me and walk in the light.


2)THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Jesus had all the good news of God. People came from everywhere, far and near to listen. They tell stories. That was fun.
The stories of Jesus helping people learn things about God made them think and ask questions. Jesus began his parable ...

-A farmer was to plant. Spread the seeds carried in his bag. Some fell into the path where the birds were eaten quickly. Some fell between the stones. Began to grow, but the stones stood in his way. Small plants dried up and died under the hot sun.
Others fell among thorns, which grew and drowned.
But there were seeds that fell in a good and fertile ground. Each of these seeds was transformed into a big and strong. And each plant produced more new seeds, thirty, sixty or a hundred times more than those who sowed the peasant.-


- What does this story? - Asked the apostles to Jesus
-It is about what happens when people hear the good news about the Kingdom of God, Jesus answered them. Some people do not listen. Therefore, his message disappears, as the seeds that the birds are eaten away.
-Other people are glad to hear it, but only at first. When they arrive problems, such as plants that are dried up and died under the hot sun. Some are so preoccupied with wealth that leave no free space for the seeds of good news to grow.
It's like the seed that was choked by the thorns.
But there are people who really listen and learn. They are like the plants that were more new seeds, thirty, or sixty or a hundred times more than the farmer sowed.

-We want to be like those-, thought the apostles of Jesus



3) The Resurrection

Afther the Sabbath*, at night, the women ground the spices and mixed them with oil to make ointment for the body of Jesus in the tomb. The women were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Salome and Mary the mother of James. They arrived at the tomb on Sunday morning and they saw that the large stone wich sealed the tomb wasn't sealing it. They saw that the tomb was empty. Suddenly, an angel appeared and said : " Jesus is not here, he is risen from the dead. Do not be afraid".
When the women told to the disciples, they didn't believe them, but Peter ran to the tomb, and it was empty.

Some time later, when Mary Magdalene went back to the tomb, Jesus appeared, but she didn't recognise him until he spoke. Mary Magdalene was the first person Jesus spoke to after he has risen from the dead.He asked her to go and tell the Good News of the resurection to everyone she met.

* Sabbath day: is a holy day for Jews. In this day, they rest, pray and don't work because God doesn't want.


Jesus and Sabbath laws

Jesus had conflict with authority thanks to the Sabbath, we can read about them:

• Luke 6: 1-5 ( Jesus and the Pharisees)
• Luke 6: 6-11 ( Jesus and the Pharisees)
• Mark 11: 1-11 ( Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem)
• Mark 11: 15-19 ( Jesus in the Temple)

In these Gospel's capters we can understand that Jesus think that the person and God are more important than work or not work on the Sabbath days.

Foundations of Religion: Christianity The Context:

The Bible:
The Bible is the holy book of Christianity. Christians believe the Bible is the Word of God. The Christian Bible is divided into two parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament.
The Old Testament, or Jewish Scripture, was written before the time of Jesus. It tells the story of God’s people, the Jews.
The New Testament was written after the time of Jesus. It tells the story of Jesus and the first Christians.
The Jews read only the Old Testament, but the Christians read both, the Old and the New one. Christians read the Old Testament because it tells the story of how God prepared people for the coming of Jesus.
The Old Testament is divided into five parts: the Law ( Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy ), the Historical books, the Wisdom books, the Major Prophets and the Minor Prophets. The Old Testament is written in Hebrew.
The New Testament is divided into five parts: the Gospels ( Matthew, Mark, Luke and John ), the Acts of the Apostles, the Pauline Epistles ( Romans, 1.Corinthians, 2.Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1.Thessalonians,
2.Thessalonians, 1.Timmothy, 2.Timmothy, Titus, Philemon and Hebrews ), the Catholic Epistles ( James, 1.Peter, 2.Peter, 1.John, 2.John, 3.John and Jude ) and the Revelations. The New Testament is written in Greek.
The Bible

· He met his first disciples at the Sea of Galilee.
· He taught people in Capernaum.

· He was put to death outside the city of Jerusalem.

Homes and life in Palestine:
Jesus lived with Mary and Joseph in a village house in Nazareth.
In Palestine the houses for ordinary people were simple in design. Each house was small and it has one door and one small window to keep the house cool inside. Inside there was only one room which was divided in two parts. The family lived on a raised platform at one end, and the lower part of the room was used as a stable for animals. Each family might have a goat, a donkey, some sheep and a few chickens.
The walls of the houses were built of mud and plaster. The outside walls were painted white to reflect the heat of the sun. The roof of the house was flat and the surface was often strong enough to walk on. The inside of the houses were dark, cool and very crowded. There were very little furniture, but however most houses had a chest.
Outside, some stairs at the side of the houses led up onto a roof. It was used as an extra space for the family. They sometimes ate theirs meals, sat and talked and said their prayers up there. On warm nights the family would sleep out on the roof. During the day, it was a place where the washing was hung up to dry.
Every Jewish house has an oil lamp, which was placed on a lamp stand and was always lit, day and night. Oil for the lamp was stored on a pottery jar.
At night, the family slept on mats on the floor, and in the morning, the mats were rolled up and stored in a corner.
All the family came together for the evening meal. The meal began and finished with a blessing. Everyone took food from a large dish. No cutlery was used. Fresh bread was eaten with the meal and it was broken and divided among everyone. During the meal the father of the family told stories from Jewish scripture.
The members of an ordinary Jewish family did a variety of jobs both inside and outside the home.
The day started with a breakfast of bread, cheese and fruits. When the breakfast is over, the boys go off to school at the synagogue. The class sit around the rabbi who teaches them Jewish scripture. After school, they work with their father for the rest of the day. The girls stay at home with theirs mothers. Together they tidy the house, bake the bread and go to the well for water. Later on, they go to the market to do the shopping. On the way to the market, there were small workshops in which they could see how carpenters, potters, sandal makers…. Were working. The market square is in the centre of the village, and it was always noisy and crowded. They sell baskets, mats, oil, cloth, jewellery, vegetables, fruits, grain…..
There were always travellers from others countries passing through the village.

The Roman Empire:
The Romans came from Rome in Italy. The Emperor was the head of the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire lasted more than 500 years. Roman armies were very powerful for a long time and they won a lot of battles. Therefore, they controlled all the land around the Mediterranean Sea, and they spread throughout Europe and North Africa. When Jesus was born, Palestine was ruled by the Romans. The Romans knew that whoever controlled Palestine, had control of all the roads in and out of those areas. When the Romans reached Palestine, very soon they took control of the entire country. The Romans put their own governors in charge to rule the people, and each governor had to make sure that Jewish people of Palestine obeyed Roman laws and paid Roman taxes. Jewish people earned just enough money for food, clothes and a small house for their families, therefore, it was very difficult for them to pay the Roman taxes. As a result, the Jews didn’t accept the Romans, and they believed Palestine was their land, given to them by God.

Religious Groups:
As the time past, different groups of Jews were formed. Some Jews accepted the Romans as a fact of life and other Jews rejected them. There were four groups:
The Pharisees: these people rejected Roman rule. They ignored the Romans, and they continued practising their owns religions.
The Zealots: they rejected Roman rule and they were angry with the Romans. They also tried to fight against them.
The Sadducees: they accepted Roman rule and they adapted to the Romans and they tried to make the best of it.
The Essenes: they rejected Roman rule. They were disappointed with the Romans and the Jewish leaders and they left Jerusalem and went off to live in the desert.

Ancient Judaism:
The history the Jews takes from the time of Abraham to the time of Jesus, approximately 2,000 years.
1. God calls Abraham to lead his people from the city of Ur to the land of Canaan. God makes a sacred agreement in which Abraham’s descendants became God’s chosen people.
2. A period of extreme food scarcity appears in Canaan and Jacobs, Abraham’s grandson, moved the family to Egypt. At the beginning they were welcomed as guests, but later they were treated as slaves.
3. After a lot of years, God chose Moses to let the Jews out of slavery in Egypt. They reached Mount Sinai and God gave Moses the laws and the ten commandments.
4. Judges and prophets were sent to lead them in the ways of God. As the time past, the Jews established a kingdom and David became the king of all Israel. He was a very good fighter and he always tried to keep his people obeying the laws of God. His son Solomon built a beautiful temple in Jerusalem where everyone could adore God.
5. After Solomon’s death the kingdom was divided. The people fell into bad ways and they failed to keep the covenant. God sent prophets to remind them to keep their promises.
6. A bad period arrived and Jerusalem was attacked. The Temple was destroyed and the people were deported to Babylon as slaves. The Jews realised too late their mistake; they were being opposite to God.
7. In a exile and far from home, they learned to depend on God. They began to pray together on the Sabbath and they tried to follow God’s law.
8. when the Jews were set free, they retuned to Jerusalem and they rebuilt the Temple. They started from cero and the rabbis teached them to practice their believes in a prosperous way.
9. there was still no peace in Palestine. The country was invaded by one foreign power after another, for example the Romans in 63BCE.
10. The Jews were looking for a leader who would make their nation a great Jewish kingdom, a Messiah who would lead them to freedom.

Temple and Synagogue:
In Jesus’ time, the Jews had two kind of religious buildings: the Great Temple in the city of Jerusalem and the synagogues in every town and village.
The most important building was the temple. It was a very big place where a lot of people can stay at the same time. It was built of cream coloured stone and covered in gold. It was the dwelling place of God. The Jews used to go to the Temple at list once a year with their families in order to pray and to offer sacrifices to God.
In the temple there were two courts: the Court of Gentiles , were the Jews changed their Roman money into Temple money to buy birds and animals to sacrifice them, and the Court of Priests where the animals were sacrificed on the altar by the priests.
There was in the Temple a sacred part and it was called the Holy of Holies. In this place, only the high priest was allowed to enter into, to pray for God’s forgiveness for his people.
The Temple was destroyed by the Romans but part of a wall is still as a remain today.
The synagogue was a place were the Jewish community attended every week in order to celebrate the Sabbath service, to pray and to listen to the scriptures. This building had two plants although it was small and only permitted 150 people to be inside. The synagogue had two doors, women entered through one of them and the men by the other one. During the Sabbath, a rabbi, a teacher, read from a scroll of Jewish scripture and gave a talk about it. At the end, the scrolls were kept in a special part called the Ark, where a light was always burned on. In addition, a special candle with seven arms was also in the synagogue, and it was called a menorah.

The Messiah:
The prophets were holy people who spoke on behalf of God. There were very prophets in Old Testament times such as Isaiah, Jeremiah or Ezekiel. The prophets reminded the Jews about God’s law and warned the Jews what would happen if they disobeyed them. The prophets told the people that God promised to sent a great leader and the Jews called it Messiah. Today Christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah although Jews believe that the Messiah has yet to come.

CONCLUSION:

I think this work has been very interesting, because now I know more things about religion, such as: the large trip in the Ancient Judaism, the differences between the religious groups that were formed in Palestine in the period of the Roman Empire....

New Testament
The Goods News are written in the four first book (Gospels) in the New Testament in the Bible.
For all Christians the Good News is that Jesus is God.
The gospels were written by the four evangelists (Mark, Matthew, Luke and John) in the first century CE.
An evangelist was a person of great faith, who believed that Jesus is God.
Some gospels begin with events closer from the birth of Jesus but the evangelists focus in particular in His teaching, healing, death and resurrection.
The Evangelists
In the New Testament the evangelists tell the story of Jesus from different points of view.
Each evangelist presents Jesus in a different way by showing us His different sides:
·His suffering side in Mark.
·His teaching side in Matthew.
·His caring side in Luke.
·His holy side in John.
Mark, Matthew and John used to be a Jew and Luke a Gentile but now they are Christians.
Mark´s Gospel was written about 70CE. Luke´s and Matthew´s gospel were written around 85CE. And John´s around 95CE.
Three Gospel Stages
The evangelists knew about Jesus, believed in Him and wrote the gospels about more than forty years after His death and resurrection. The gospels of Jesus came together in three different stages:
1- The Life stage.
Jesus taught and healed people in the last three years of His life. He was crucified and He died on a cross. Jesus raised from dead after three days and appeared to His disciples.
2- The Oral stage.
The apostles believed that Jesus is God so they travelled far and wide to tell the Good News.
3-The Written stage.
The apostles, the main witnesses of all said and did that were getting old, so Jesus story must be written down before it was too late, then the evangelist wrote the story of Jesus in the four Gospels.
The synoptic Gospels
The word synoptic means``can be together side by side´´.
The gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke are sometimes called Synoptic Gospels, so these means that they share a lot in common. The gospels of Matthew and Luke appeared twenty years after than Mark´s and are much longer because they used the ``Q´´ Document, which is a collection of Jesus sayings. Anyway John´s gospel is written much harder to understand and more complex.

Documents of Faith
A gospel is a particular type of writing , it´s a document of faith. It provides a written evidence about something important.
The four evangelists focused their attention on the last three years of Jesus´life, they examined all the facts.
A gospel provides the evidence that Jesus is God, and help people to believe in it.
Documents of History
It is very important to know that Jesus exist outside the New Testament
Some History Books were written a long time ago but there are two documents in particular that were written almost 2,000 years ago.
One of these documents was written by a Jew man called Josephus. He wrote a book to explain the religion of Judaism to the Romans.
Another document was written by a Roman man called Tacitus. He wrote a book about important people and events in the Roman Empire.
Both historians said that Jesus was a real person, he did exist.
So there are two sources of information about Jesus: Christian and Non-Christian.
The Kingdom of God
When Jesus was baptised by John in the River Jordan, something special happened. He felt the peace of God. He was inspired for a special mission to perform. Jesus had a vision of a perfect world, that he called The Kingdom of God: where everyone would love God and their neighbour as themselves.
Parables
A parable is a special kind of story with a hidden meaning.
Jesus told parables to teach people about the Kingdom of God. Parables were easy to understand and remember.
The Lost Sheep
Jesus told parables to show how God treats those who lose their way in life. Jesus said that God loved everyone and that there were no exceptions. Then Jesus explained it with two parables: The Parable of The Lost Sheep and The Parable of The Lost Coin.
The Good Samaritan
One day Jesus was teaching that in the Kingdom of God, you must love God and your neighbour. Someone asked Jesus that who was it´s neighbour and Jesus answered by telling a parable about a kind-hearted man who helped a person in need. It was the Parable of he Good Samaritan, this parable shows that one´s neighbour is everyone, the people we like, and people we don´t like.

Jesus power came from God, people thought that illness and disease was a form of punishment. They believed that sick people must have done something wrong in their lives. Jesus gave the man comfort by forgiving his sins. He healed him of his illness.JESUS AND SABBATH LAWSJesus came into conflict with powerful in Palestine. For the Jews the Sabbath day is a holy day. It is a day of rest and prayer. The Pharisees thought that God did not want that the Jews to do any work. There were hundreds of rules about not working on the Sabbath. The Pharisees believe that they were serving God when they encouraged ordinary Jews to obey all this rules. Jesus travelled throughout Palestine teaching about the kingdom of God. Jesus and his disciples were walking along by a field of corn. The disciples were hungry so they picked some corn. But they got in trouble. They told Jesus that it was against the law for the disciples to do something like that on the Sabbath. Jesus knew that the Sabbath was a holy day. People must come first he said before the small detail of the law. They believed exactly the opposite. The law came first and it was to be obeyed in every tiny detail. Jesus replied that he had every right to make different laws. In the kingdom of God, Jesus was the expert. They wanted to see what Jesus would do. They waited for him to make a mistake. Jesus told the man to come up. He asked him to stretch out his hand. Jesus believed that is was right to help people. Jesus said that the needs of people must come first, before the detail of the law, Jesus broke the law on purpose. Jesus was breaking all the rules.

Jesus was arrested on a Thursday evening after dark when Jesus, Peter and some of the others disciples met at the amount of olives. Jesus knew it was now only of matter of time, so He left them and went off by himself. In the silence of that night he fell on his knees and prayed. He heard some laud noise and he knows that it was Herodes who arrived. Herodes said to Judas to Kiss Jesus to arrested him and kill him. Judas went to kiss Jesus and Herodes do everything that he told.
On the Friday morning, roman soldiers led Jesus out to be crucified. It was obligatory to Jesus to carry his cross through the streets of Jerusalem. When he reached her friend Golgotha, the place of execution, the soldiers nailed Jesus a cross.
After three days Jesus death, when some people went to look at him, it was nobody at there. The people went to said to the disciples, when suddenly they met another person. When they arrived with the disciples Jesus show to them his injures.
It was the end of Jesus time on the earth. After the ascension the disciples had to wait a short time before beginning their new work. They had to wait almost forty days after the resurrection of Jesus. The disciples where together as usual in a house in Jerusalem. Their new jobs consist to tell the word of Jesus. They need to teach all the things that Jesus has done in his live.
After ten days of the ascension, on the Jewish feast of Pentecost, the disciples met to pray in a house in Jerusalem. The city was already crowned. Some people on the street heard a great deal of noise coming from the house. The doors were opened, so the people came in. They all seemed very excited.
The early Christian communities were like one big family.
The members were happy to share their faith, their worship and their way of live together. After Pentecost the apostles were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
They went out and worked openly in the city of Jerusalem.
The apostles had a special mission in the live. They need to teach the Good news of Jesus Christ to the people who believe in Good or who are Christianity. The apostles were the leaders of the Christian communities on Jerusalem. They need to teach every day the message of Good.
The turning time in St. Paul’s live happened on the road of Damascus. Paul changed from being someone who persecuted Christians to becoming a Christian himself. Before he went to Damascus he was totally against Jesus, when he went straight to the synagogue and began to teach about Jesus live and message. His real name was Saul but he change it to Paul because he began to be a missionary of Good and he travelled all over around the world to teach the message of Goodand the live of Jesus.
The apostles tried to express of understanding of Jesus identity. After Jesus resurrection the apostles experienced Jesus in a new way.
Son of Man was the only title Jesus called himself. This idea comes of the old testament

The Ancient Judaism:

The history of the Jews takes a period of almost two thousand years from the time of Abraham to the time of Jesus.

This is a resume about Ancient Judaism:

- God called Abraham to guide his people from de city of Ur to the land of Canaan. God made a sacred agreement with him and Abraham’s descendants become God’s chosen people.

- A famine breaks out in Canaan and Jacob (Abraham’s grandson) moved the family to Egypt. At first, they were welcomed as visitors, but later they were treated as servants.

- Hundreds of years passed, and then God selected Moses to lead the Jews out of slavery in Egypt. When they reached Mount Sinai, God gave Moses the laws and the ten c0mandaments. The Jews promised to obey the law of God.

- They arrived to Canaan. Eventually the Jews established a kingdom and David became king of all Israel. His son Solomon built a temple in Jerusalem where everyone went to pray.

- After Solomon’s death the kingdom was divided. The people felt into wicked ways. God sent prophets to remind them to keep their promises.

- Then, Jerusalem was invaded. The temple was destroyed and the people were deported to Babylon as slaves. In that moment, they decided to not believe in God anymore.

- Now in exile and far away from home, they started to believe in God again. They begin to pray all together on the Sabbath and try to follow God’s law.

- When the Jews were free, they returned to Jerusalem and built the Temple again.

CONCLUSION:

My conclusion is that the Ancient Judaism was a period of a lot of slavery and poverty. Also they were insecure in believing in God and in his prophet, Abraham.

The Evangelists:

In the New Testament, the evangelists were the people which told the story of Jesus from different points of view.

The Gospel is the Good News that tells us Jesus is God. The gospels were written in the first century, in the Roma Empire for Christians. Each community had it’ s problems. The evangelists emphasised certain aspects of Jesus’ life and teaching to meet the requirements of each community.

It is important to know that there are four gospels, but only one Jesus.
The evangelists show us different sides of Jesus:

- Mark shows us his suffering side.
- Matthew shows us his teaching side.
- Luke shows us his caring side.
- John shows us his holy side.

The gospels are the first books in the New Testament in the Bible. The gospels were written by the four evangelists: Mark, Matthew, Luke and John.

An evangelist was a person of great faith, who believed a lot that Jesus is God. The gospels were written to help people everywhere to have a deeper faith in Jesus.

CONCLUSION

My conclusion is that the evangelists were people who dedicated their lives serving God. Also that the gospels were the books in which the evangelists wrote the Word of God.

The Holy Land

What is the Holy Land?

Palestine is a small country which measures about a quarter of Ireland. It is divided in three different parts. The north, which has lots of snowed mountains and cold climate; the middle, where low hills and fertile valleys where sheep graze are and crops are grown because of the good soil; and finally the south, which is a desert area. The days are mainly hot, but at night the weather can get cooler.

Palestine has one main river, the Jordan; and one main city, Jerusalem. Two lakes are in Palestine: the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea. Its main provinces are Galilee, Judaea and Samaria; and the towns are:

- In the north: Nazareth, Cana, Bethsaida and Capernaum.
- In the south: Bethlehem, Emmaus, Jericho and Bethany.

Jesus’ Life in Palestine

Jesus stayed all of his life in Palestine. People used to travel walking or in donkeys; which they also used to carry their belongings. Jesus walked through narrow dusty roads with his disciples teaching people about the love of God.

What is a Gospel?

A gospel is a particular type of writing. It is sometimes compared to a history book or a biography, but a gospel isn’t a Jesus’ biography; a biography is the life story of a person, it mentions all the events that took place in that person’s life. A gospel talks mainly about the last three years of Jesus’ life.

The Order of Jesus’ Life

Jesus’ life events are not written in the exact order they happened, instead, they are grouped by topics. For example, Jesus’ miracles are written in one section of a gospel and the parables in another.
There is very little written about Jesus when he was a child, so even less about his school days. About the approximately fifteen years he spent as a carpenter and builder in Nazareth there is nothing at all.

Differences between a Gospel and a Biography or a History Book

A gospel isn’t a history book; because this one has exact names of places or people and dates. Events are usually presented in the order they’ve been happening, but in gospels very often names are left out and usually, they are no dates.

The Bible:

The Bible is a holy book that has seventy seven sacred texts. It is the book that represents the Christian faith and it tells us the word of God. The Bible is divided into two parts, the Old Testament, which is the first part and it is at the front and the New Testament, which is the second part and it is at back.

The Bible is similar to a small library and it is composed of many different books. Various books in the Bible are very short and have only a few pages (compared with other books). Some books have men’s names, for example: James, Peter or Mathew and other have women’s names. The books in the Old Testaments were written by many different people over hundreds of years. The books in the New Testament were written by only a few people over a period of about fifty years.

The Old Testament or Jewish Scripture is separated into forty six sacred texts. It tells us about how God created the world and the living things, and also about the Hebrews’ story. All things happened before Christ was born (B.C.). Christian people read the Old Testament because it also tells the story of how God prepared people for the coming of Jesus. It is a very special book for the Jewish people.

The New Testament is separated into twenty seven sacred texts. It tells us about the story of Jesus, the first Christians. This part of the Bible is special for Christian people.

In a Church the Bible is placed on a special stand called a lectern. This allows everyone to see how important it is the Bible.

The origin of the word bible is from the Latin, in the Greek sentence “τὰ βιβλία τὰ ἅγια” which means; 'the sacred book'. They thought that comes from the diminutive of the city called Biblos.

CONCLUSION

My conclusion is that the Bible is a book which can tell us most of the things we want to know about God.

The New Testament:

The New Testament is sometimes called the Greek New Testament or Greek Scriptures, or the New Covenant – which is the literal translation of the original Greek.

The New Testament is composed of twenty seven books and all of them were written in Greek. Five of them are historic books, because they talk about the born, the life and death of Jesus Christ (in the four gospels: from what Saint Matthew, Saint John, Saint Luke and Saint Mark said) also the history of the first Christians after the crucifixion (in the book of “the Acts of the Apostles”).

Other twenty one books are called “didactic books”, because they explain the teachings of the Christianity. The letters that some of the disciples of Jesus Christ wrote to the communities of the Christians which lived in the different cities or regions. The majority of this letters were written by Saint Paul.

It also exist a prophetic book called “the Apocalypse”, which was written by Saint John.

The books of the New Testament were written in the second half of the first century. They took some time to spread throughout all Christendom (Christianity) and much more time to become accepted.

The New Testament was the principal source of the history of Christianity in the first century.

CONCLUSION

My conclusion is that the New Testament is a very important part of the Bible for us, if we want to know about Jesus and his life.

The Temple (Jerusalem)

The Temple of Jerusalem was a sanctuary of Israel’s village, situated across the Mount Moria, in the city of Jerusalem. This temple was very long, narrow and precious. The temple was covered with gold and the stones that were used to make the walls had a cream tone.


It was a very important temple for the Jewish people, because they believed that the temple was the heart of them. They went with their families to pray and to offer sacrifice to God. They visited it during the Jewish festivals. The Romans destroyed the temple in 70 CE. Later on, they tried to rebuild the temple.

The Synagogues

A synagogue was a place in which the Jewish people meet. When Jesus was alive, there was a synagogue in every village and every town in Palestine. Every week, the Jews did a service in the synagogue on Sabbath. The Jewish people went to the synagogue to pray and to read some scriptures.

The synagogue was a two-story building. It was quite small, and it supports between fifty and a hundred people at a time. Inside there were two doors. In one door, the woman entered and went upstairs to a gallery. Young boys and men went to another door.

CONCLUSION

My conclusion is that the Temple was a very important building because it was a place were the Jewish people meet and pray, because pray was a thing that for most of the Jews was a way of life.

The Messiah

The prophets told the people that God had promised to sent a leader, this person is the Messiah. The word Messiah meant for the Jews “anointed one”.

A prophet is someone that speak on behalf to God. In Old Testament times there were many prophets, the more famous were: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah and Ezekiel. Jewish people thought that God spoke to them through all the prophets.
The prophets in the Old Testament reminded the Jews about God’s law and also, gave warnings to the Jews about what would happen if they disobeyed God and his law.

Many time ago, all great leaders were blessed (anointed) with oil, for example, when King David was young he was blessed with oil. To be blessed with oil was a sign that meant that that person was sent by God to do good things.
The Jews thought that the Messiah would be very strong and powerful like the King David and they expected the Messiah to be like a king. Also, they expected him to be a great warrior and lead the Jews to freedom.
Today all Christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah and Jews believe that the Messiah hasn’t come yet and later or soon is going to come.

History Books

At the time of the Roman Empire were written two history books in particular. This means that they have about 2,000 years. Some other history books have also been written long time ago.

Jesus and the Documents of History

In the New Testament (the Bible) is most of what we know about Jesus. The other information comes from some historical documents; written at about the end of the first century CE.
Josephus wrote one of these documents to explain the Romans the religion of Judaism. Tacitus was another man who also wrote a historical document. But he was a Roman, and had written that book to talk about important people and events that took place in the Roman Empire.

Josephus

Josephus was a Jew which his occupation was historian, and wrote a historical document to talk about Judaism to Romans. Information about Jesus is:
He was a wise man, and teacher. He did wonderful works and many Jews and people from other different religions had become his disciples (his followers were called Christians). It was Pontius Pilate who sentenced him to die in a cross; but his disciples said he was alive and three days after his crucifixion he appeared to them. After Jesus’ death Josephus wrote this 60 years.

THE OLD TESTAMENT AND THE LIFE OF JEWS IN PALESTINE

The Bible is a holy book, is divided into two parts: The Old Testament and The New Testament .

-The Old Testament is the first part, was written before the time of Jesus , tells the story of the Jews and was written by many different people.-The New Testament is the second part, was written after the time of Jesus and tells the story of Jesus and the first Chistians. It was written by only a few people.


Palestine is the holy land, is where Jesus lived all his life:

-Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
-Jesus grew up in Nazareth
-Jesus was baptisen in the river Jordan.
-Jesus met his first disciples at the sea of Galilee.
- And Jesus was put to death in Jerusalen.

The Jews, lived in Palestine, lived in small houses, the women and girls worked in the houses while the boys and men went to the sinagogue and worked in the field with the animals.
The Jews had two kind of religious building :

- The Great Temple in Jerusalen :was the most sacred building ,the Jews tried visit the Temple at least once a year. In the Temple there was an outer courtyard called the Court of Gentiles ,here the Jews changed money, bought animals for to used for sacrifices. The most sacred part of the Temple was the Holy of Holies, no one ,except the high priest was allowed to enter .The Temple was destroyed by the Romans en 70 CE .Part of one wall is that remains today.

- The Sinagogues in every towns: was a metting place for the Jewish community , every weeks , the Jews prayed and listened to the Scriptures on the Sabbath.The sinagogue was small ,the women entered by one door and went upstairs to a gallery, the men and boys wente in another door and remained downstairs in the main part of the building.The Scrolls were kept in a especial place called the Ark ,there was in front a light burned that rememberd to the Jews that God was always with them, almos there was a special candle calle Menorah.

The religious groups of the Jews were:

-The Pharisees: were holy men and rejected the romans .

-The Zealots: used the violence to force the romans out of the Palestine .
-The Sadduces: formed the Sanhedrin and accepted roman rule.
-The Essenes: they left Jerusalen and lived in the dessert , they rejected roman rule.

The history of the Jews covers a period of almost 2000 years, from the Abraham, Jacob, Moses, King David to the time of Jesus:

- God calls to Abraham to lead his people from the city Ur to the Canaan.
- Abraham’s grandson Jacob moves the family to Egypt ,that are treated as slaves.

- Hundred years pass, the God chooses Moses to lead the Jews.In the Mount Sinai God gives Moses the laws , the ten commandments, the Jews promise to obey the law of God and they are led into Canaan.

- The Jews establish a kingdom and David becomes king of all Israel. His son Solomon build a great temple.
- Then a crisis occurs and Jerusalem is attacked and the people are deported to Babylon as slaves.
- Now in exile ,the begin to pray together on the Sabbath and try to follow again God’s law.
- The Jews return to Jerusalem but the country is invaded by the Romans. The Jews wait the Messiah who will lead them to freedom.
In The Old Testament the Prophet is someone who speaks to Jews about God’s law, they told to the people that God will send a great leader that the Jews called to him “MESSIAH”.
Today the Christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah but the Jews believe that the Messiah has yet to come.

CONCLUSION:
After writing this piece of work i think that the jews always have been invaded by other countries, this is why the waited and they wait for a messiah who is the boss that will help the jews to be free. Also the Judaism is very important because it was the bases of other religions. Like the christianity and the islam.

The Messiah
In the Old Testament a prophet was a holy person who had a special job to do. A prophet was a spokenperson for God. All the prophets told the Jews that if they obeyed God’s Law, then God would look after the. They would live in peace in their own country forever. Today christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah and Jews believe that the Messiah has yet to come. For hundreds of years before the Birth of Jesus, the Jews expected a Messiah to come to their aid.

The New Testament
For Christians the Good News is that Jesus is God. The Good News is written in the gospels. The gospels are the first four books in the New Testament in the Bible.
The Evangelists
The gospels were written by Mark, Matthew, Luke and John. They are called the four evangelists. An evangelist was a person of great faith who firmly believed that Jesus is God. The gospels were written to help people everywhere to have a deeper faith in Jesus. The word “gospel” means “good news”. For Christians the Good News is that Jesus is God. The story of Jesus is told in the four gospels in the New Testament. They focus in particular on his teaching, healing, death and resurrection. In the New Testament, the evangelists tell the story of Jesus from different points of view.
His suffering side in Mark.
His teaching side in Matthew.
His caring side in Luke.
His holy side in John.
This are the three gospel stages:
Stage 1 – The Life stage
Jesus teaches and heals people in the last three years of His life.
He is crucified and dies on the cross.
Jesus is raised from the dead after three days, and appears to His disciples.
Stage 2 - The Oral stage.
The apostles believe that Jesus is God.
They travel far and wide to TELL the Good News.
Stage 3 – The Written stage.
The apostles, the main witnesses of all Jesus said and did, were getting old.
Jesus’ story must be written down before it is too late.
The evangelists, Mark, Matthew, Luke and John, WRITE the story of Jesus in the four Gospels.
The first three gospels are very alike.
The gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke are sometimes called the Synoptic Gospels.
Documents of Faith
A gospel is a particular type of writing. A gospel is a document of faith.
A gospel is unlike any other type of writing. Sometimes it is compared to a history book or even a biography.
However a gospel is not a history book about Jesus.
A gospel is a document. A document provides written evidence about something important.
Mark, Matthew, Luke and John wrote their gospels with a special purpose in mind. They set out to show that Jesus is God.
They looked at eye-witness reports of his:
Teaching
Miracles
Death and
Resurrection.
A gospel therefore is a type of writing that:
Tells the facts about Jesus.
Explains the meaning of the facts.
Invites the reader to believe in Jesus.



Documents of History.
Some history books were written a long time ago. Two documents in particular were written almost 2.000 years ago, at the time of the Roman Empire.
Most of what we know about Jesus comes from the New Testament in the Bible. Other information comes from historical documents written at the end of the first century CE.
There are two sources of information about Jesus.
Christian sources.
Non-Christian sources.
Jesus had a dream. He had a vision of a perfect world. Jesus began to follow his dream from the day he was baptised. John baptised Jesus in the River Jordan.
Jesus said that the Kingdom of God is found in people.
Jesus said the Kingdom of God arrived in Him.
Jesus told parables to show how God treats those who lose their way in life.


Conclusion

Christianity is very big and we can always learn a bit more of it. In this work I have learn a lot of things and not only about Christianity, also about other religions. I think that everybody have learn something doing this work, even not only about religion.

THE GOOD SAMARITAN

One day Jesus was teaching in a small town. Afterwards, someone came up to Jesus and asked,"Who is my neighbour?". Jesus answered by telling the parable of Good Samaritan. The parable shows that one's neighbour is everyone, the people we like, and people we don't like.The parable of the Good SamaritanOne day a Jewish man travels alone the road from Jerusalem to Jericho. A local gang saw him coming. They attack him and take all his money. They leave him lying on the side of the road. The poor man is unable to move.Some local people in a great hurry. They are on their way to the Temple in Jerusalem. They pass the injured man, but they ingored him. They don`t want to get involved. Then a Samaritan man comes by. The Jews and the Samaritan don`t get alone. The Jews have always looked donw on the Samaritans. They tread them at outsiders. The Samaritan stops and goes over to see what is wrong. The injured man turns and groans. Straight away the Sameritan gives him first aid. Then he carefully lifts him onto his donky and brings him to the nearest inn. He stay up all night caring for him. Before he leaves the next day, the Sameritan gives the innkeeper some money. "Make sure this poor man gets everything he needs."he says." if it cost any more just let me know. I will be back to see how he is later on."As Jesus finished the parable the person behind him. "Who do you think acted in a neighbourly way to the man who was attacked?" "The person who was king to him", was reply.
The Samaritans

The Samaritans were people who came from Samaria. Samaria is a province of Palestine. The Samaritans were Jews, yet other Jews throughout Palestine looked down on them. Both groups lost touch with each other long before Jesus' time. During the Exile the people from Samaria were over looked. They were not sent to Babylon like everyone else. When the Jews finally returned from Exile they discovered a lot of changes had taken place in the absence. The Samaritans had mixed freely with Gentiles. Now their customs, their scripture and their religious practices were different to those of other Jews. People thought they were not real Jews anymore, so they rejected them, and would have nothing more to do with them. By Jesus' time the Samaritans were despised by everyone. They were treated as outsiders by the rest of the Jewish commumity in Palestine.Bartimaeus sat in his usual place by the roadside. Bartimaeus was blind. Local people paid little attention to him. He was known simply as Baer-Timaeus. Bartimaeus heard a group of people coming toward him. He had been told about Jesus the healer. He had always wanted to meet him. He knew Jesus would listen to him. They told him to keep quiet. But Bartimaeus shouted even louder. When Jesus heard him, he stopped and called him over. Jesus listened carefully as Bartimaeus told him what he wanted to be able to see. The blind man knew Jesus had the power to heal him. "Go, your faith has made you well," Jesus said, and he gave Bartimaeus back his sight. The man was amazed. He looked at Jesus and decided there and then to follow him. The miracle changed his life.

Conclussion

I think this is a good project because you learn a lot of things of the rest of the world, not only the religion of each country, also their customs.

THE LAST SUPPER
Passover is the most important festival in the Jewish year. It celebrates the time long ago and the Passover meal is always the high point of this festival, because it helps the Jews remember what happened with their ancestors at the very first Passover.

The moment of the eucharist is when jesus and his disciples were in Jerusalem for the Jewish festival of Passover. Jesus believed that the Sadducees were going to have him arrested, yet him wanted to share to Passover meal with his disciples.
That evening Jesus hosted a Passover meal for his friends and picked up the bread. He said a prayer of thanks to God. Then he broke the bread and gave a piece to each disciples saiying, "This is my body".
Then Jesus took a cup of wine. Again he said a prayer of thanks to God. He handed the cup to each of them and said, "This is my blood". Looking around at all of them he said, "Do this in memory of me."
Jesus gave the Passover bread and wine a new meaning. The bread was his body that would be broken for them. The wine was his blood that would de spilled for them. In this way Jesus connected the Passover meal with his own death.
The disciples did not fully understand the meaning of Jesus' words and actions. They did not realise that Jesus was about to die for them. They thought that Jesus had come to Jerusalem to become king. Later the disciples went to the Mount of the Olives.

Sacrifice
It was only after the death and resurection of Jesus that the disciples fully understood the meaning of his words and actions at the Last Supper. Jesus tried to tell them that his death would not be an ordinary death. His death would be a sacrifice.

Jesus is arrested
On Thursday evening after dark Jesus, Peter and some of the disciples met at the Mount of Olives. He left them and went off by himself. Suddenly there was a noise and bright torchlight all around them. Judas had arrived. He went over to Jesus and greeted Him with a kiss.
The disciples got ready to fight, but Jesus stopped them. Jesus said to the Sadducees"You come here now under cover darkness, I was in the Temple every day, you didn't arrest me then!"

Conflict with authority
Late on Thursday night Jesus was brought before the Sanhedrin, the Jewish court of law. Jesus stood in front of the high priest. The High Priest asked "Are you the Messiah, the Son of God? so you say"Jesus replay. The High Priest was shocked. It was blasphemy for anyone to claim he was equal to God. It meant Jesus had broken the Jewish law. The Courth of the Sanhedrin gave their verdicked. Jesus was found guilty of blasphemy. They say he should be put to death. But the Sanhedrin did not had the power to excecute anyone. Only Pilate, could execute offenders, so they took Jesus to him.

Conclusion:

I think that religion doesn't means only your religion, also means other religions in the world like: judaism, hinduism, budism...In this work that i've done, i have learned things that I didn't knew of Jesus, like the part that says: conflict with authority.
