The women entered through one of the doors and went upstairs to the gallery. Men and older boys went in another door and remained downstairs in the main part of the building.
During the Sabbath service there were prayers and hymns. Then a Rabbi, a teacher, read from the scroll of Jews scripture. After that they give a talk about the readings. The scrolls were treated with a lot of respect because they were the Word of God for the Jewish people.

Ancient Judaims
The history of the Jews covers 2000 years from the time of Abraham to the time of Jesus. The story happened in Egypt, Jesulasem, Haram and Babilom .
Ancient Judaims:
God calls Abraham to lead his people from the city or Ur to the land of Canaan.
A famine breaks out in Canaan and Abraham's grandson Jacob moves the family to Egypt. At fisrt they are welcomed as guest, but are later they were trated as slaves.
Hundred of years pass, ten God gives Moses the laws an the ten commandments.
Then jews promise to obey the law of God.
They are led into the land of Canaan.
Judges and phrofets are sent to lead them in the ways of God.The jews establish a kindong and David becomes king of Israel. He was a great warrior and tries hard to keep is people in faith with the laws of God. His son Solomon builds a great temple in Jerusalen where everyone can go to worship God.
After Solomon's death the kindong was divided. The people fall into wicked ways and fail to keep the covenant. God seds prophets to remind them to keep the promises.
A crisis occurs and Jerusalem was attacked, the temple was destroyed and the people were transported to Babylon an they convers them into slaves. Later, the jews made a mistake; the had deliberaty turned away from God.
When the jews were free the returned to Jerusalem and they reconstruted the temple.
The synoptic Gospels
The firts three gospels were very alike. The gospels of Mark, Mathiew and Luke are somethimes called the synoptic Gospels.
Synoptic:
The word synoptic means "can be seen together side by side".
When the three gospels are lined up side by side it's clear that they share a lot in common:
-They told the same story about Jesus .
-They ordered the events in the same way.
In some cases the three gospel equal that they could have be copied from one another. In truth, that is what probably happened.
Mark's gospel was written first. It was weitten for Christians that were Rome.Mark's gospel based on the apostol teaching about Jesus. It's the shortest gospel. It contains 661 verses.
Twenty years after Mark, the gospels of Matthew and Luke appeared. Mathiew wrote in the city of Antioch. Luke wrote in the city of Corinth.
The two evangelist used Mark's gospel as the basis of their work.Matthew borrowed six houndred six of marks verses, when Luke used three houndred twenty verses from Mark.
The Q Document:
When we look closer we can see that the gospels of Matthew an Luke are much longer than the gospel of Mark. This form a question "where did the extra information come from?" Bible experts think that most of it come from a document called "Q". The "Q" documents is a collection of Jesus sayings that were written down before.
Only Matthew and Luke used the "Q" document. Mark didn't used at all. Such as Jesus, sayings about the "true happiness", which are somethimes called the beatitudes.
The Fourth Gospel:
the synoptic gospel are very similars. However, the fourth gospel is different. It's not one of the synoptic gospels.
John writted in a different style. His written is much harder to understand, its more complex.
John used different sources when he was writting is gospel, he didn't used Mark, He didn't used the "Q". John used different sources. Another ete witnesses who told him about the life, death and the resurrection of Jesus.
In sumary, Matthew had many different sources than the other gospels.
The Holy Land
Jesus lived in Palestine. A small country beside the mediterranean see. The country where Jesus lived now is called Israel. It is also know as the Holy Land.
Palestine is about a quarter the size of Irland. There is snow capped mountains in the north, and a desert area in the south. In between, there are low hills a fertile valleys. The weather in Palestine is usually very hot during the day, but it can get cold at night. Palestine is divided into three regions or provinces that are Galilee, Samaria and Judaea. It has two lakes that are the See of Galilee and the Dead See. The main river is the Jordan. The biggest city is Jerusalem. Some small towns are Nazareth, Cana, Capernau and Bethsaida in the North and Bethlehem, Emmaus, Jericho and Bethany in the south.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem, he grew up in Nazareth. He was baptised in te river Jordan. Jesus thaugth people in Capernaum. He met his first disciple at the See of Galilee and Jesus was put to the death outside the city of Jerusalem.
Homes in Palestine
In Palestine the houses of people were of simple in design because it only had one door and one window. The wall of the houses were built of mud and plaster. The houses were painted of white to reflect the sunrise. The window was very little to keep cold the house. The roof of the house was flat and stronger enough to walk on it. You can get to the roof by a stairs outside the house. A family might have donkey a goat son cheap and few chiken. The floor of the house was bare earth covered with rushes. Every jewish house had an oil lamp. It was place on a lam stand and was always lit, day and ninght. Oil for the lamps was stored in a pottery jar. At the night all the family slept on mats on the floor, at the morning the mats were royed up anestored in a corner. The inside of the house was dark, cool and very crowed. The house was divided in two parts. The family lived in a raised platform. The animals lived in the low part of the house, which was call stable. They were all brought in at night and their feed was put in a manger. At the morning, the animals, were again out of the house. Most houses had a chest.
All the family came together to eat. After washing their hands . The meal became with a blesing .Everyone pick de food of a long table
No cutlery was used. The bread was broken and divided among everyone. During in the meal the father of the family told stories from jewis scripture. The family meal ended with a blessing.
This houses were very different to the actual holy land houses. In the actual house don't live animals except company animals. Actually, in the house there not an oil lamp.
